HabeshaFeed (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides a community marketplace mobile app and website (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HabeshaFeed, you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account & identity. Phone number used to sign in with SMS one-time codes (via Firebase Authentication), profile name, optional photo, optional city/service area, and business profile fields if you register as a business.
- Content you create. Community posts, marketplace listings, job posts, housing posts, comments, private messages, photos and media you upload, and related metadata (for example timestamps and listing status).
- Location (optional). If you allow location access, we may read your device’s approximate location once to suggest a city or area for your profile or for Sell, Jobs, and Housing listing fields. We do not continuously track you or use background location.
- Device & usage data. App interactions, crash and performance signals, and device/app identifiers needed to operate, secure, and improve the Service (including Firebase Analytics).
- Support communications. Messages you send to support@habeshafeed.com and related contact details.
2. How we use information
- Create and secure accounts (phone verification)
- Operate feeds, listings, comments, and private messaging
- Suggest city/area labels when you choose to use location
- Prevent abuse, spam, fraud, and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines
- Respond to support and safety reports
- Measure reliability and improve product experience
- Comply with law and protect our rights and users
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for third-party advertising tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.
3. How we share information
- Other users. Content you publish (posts, listings, profile details you choose to show) is visible to other HabeshaFeed users. Private messages are visible to participants in the thread.
- Service providers. We use vendors that help us run HabeshaFeed (for example Firebase for authentication and analytics, cloud hosting for our API and media). They process data on our instructions.
- Legal & safety. We may disclose information when required by law, or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the Service, or others from harm, fraud, or abuse.
4. Retention
We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, enforce our rules, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.
When you delete your account in the app, we deactivate your account and remove your profile and posts from public view. Messages you already sent may remain visible to recipients (similar to email). Residual copies may persist briefly in backups, then are purged on a rolling schedule. Some records may be retained longer when required for safety, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
5. Your choices
- Edit profile details and photo in the app
- Deny or revoke location permission in device settings
- Report content or users and block other members
- Delete your account from Profile → Delete account
- Contact us at support@habeshafeed.com for privacy questions or data requests
6. Children
HabeshaFeed is not directed to children under 13. You must be at least 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to create an account. If we learn we collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect accounts and data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and phone-based sign-in. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. International users
We may process information in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to those locations.
9. Changes
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
